The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Dr. (Mrs.) Angela Ajala, PhD, has received the leadership of the Nigerian Academy of Education (NAE) on a congratulatory courtesy visit to the Commission's headquarters in Abuja, using the occasion to call for stronger collaboration between the NCCE and key stakeholders in advancing teacher education across Nigeria.
The delegation, led by the Academy's former President, Professor Kabiru Isyaku, visited to felicitate with Dr. (Mrs.) Ajala on her historic appointment as the 7th and first female Executive Secretary of the Commission.

Receiving the delegation with warmth, Dr. (Mrs.) Ajala described the visit as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility shared by all stakeholders in shaping the future of education in Nigeria. She expressed her appreciation with humility, acknowledging the significance of the task ahead. "The work of strengthening our Colleges of Education and elevating the teaching profession cannot be done in isolation," she said. "It requires strong partnerships with committed stakeholders like the NAE — professionals who understand, from experience, that teacher quality is the foundation upon which every other sector rests."

The Executive Secretary outlined her approach to the role as one anchored on three clear commitments: to listen, to collaborate, and to act decisively in advancing policies and practices that improve teacher preparation, professional development, and overall system effectiveness. "I see the NAE not just as partners, but as critical allies in driving reforms that will produce competent, motivated, and globally competitive educators," Dr. (Mrs.) Ajala affirmed. "Together, we can reposition teacher education as a respected and attractive profession, and ensure that our education system delivers the outcomes our nation deserves." She expressed confidence in the period ahead and looked forward to working closely with the Academy in pursuit of their shared goals.
In his remarks, the NAE President, Olugbemiso Jegede, congratulated Dr. Ajala, describing her appointment as well-deserved. He expressed confidence that under her leadership, the NCCE and teacher preparation institutions would witness significant growth and development in the production of quality teachers.

The NAE President also used the opportunity to inform the Executive Secretary and her management team about an upcoming webinar titled, “Reimagining Nigeria's Education System: The Future-Proof Economy Framework for Digital Literacy, Skills, and National Competitiveness.”
