As part of the Executive Secretary's ongoing zonal tour to engage Provosts of Colleges of Education, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Dr. (Mrs.) Angela Ajala, FNAE, met with Provosts from the North-Central Zone on Thursday, 10 September 2026, at the Commission’s Headquarters, Abuja.

The engagement focused on the Dual Mandate, institutional development, quality teacher education, key challenges, and practical strategies for strengthening Colleges of Education. Dr. Ajala called for honest identification of institutional constraints and collaborative solutions, stressing that the Dual Mandate is not simply about awarding more certificates, but about building strong institutions capable of producing quality teachers.

The Provosts commended the initiative, describing the engagement as laudable and a strategic approach to advancing teacher education in Nigeria. They appreciated the Executive Secretary for creating a platform for constructive dialogue, collaboration, and shared solutions towards improving the sector.
