FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INAUGURATES BOARDS FOR SIX NEW ESTABLISHED FCEs

The Executive Secretary, NCCE, Professor Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle has urged the Governing Council of the newly established six Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria, to bring in their wealth of experience as seasoned administrators in transforming the COE's to center for quality teacher Preparation to meet the present challenges The Executive Secretary gave the address at NCCE headquarters shortly after the official inauguration of the Governing Council Members held at the National University Commission (NUC), Abuja on the 19th of April, 2022. Okwelle congratulated the members for the well-deserved appointment saying ''your coming will be of immense assistance to help us (NCCE) move faster with the development of the colleges'' adding that NCCE being the regulatory body to teacher education in Nigeria will provide the necessary guide as part of efforts to also make the job easy for the members in running the institutions. He charged them to adapt the principles of following the rules and regulation in the Act that established Colleges of Education for smooth processes. The NCCE Chief scribe did not mince his words in saying, that the members have a lot of work to do as the pioneer Governing Council members in moving the colleges in collaboration with management staff of the institutions to expected standard. Adding that he looks forward to seeing processes of academic activities commence because, government has done its own part. In their separate remarks, the Newly inaugurated Board Chairmen, thanked the Commission for the familiarization meeting and up-date address by the Executive Secretary. They obliged that their first point of approach will be to familiarize themselves with Colleges Act. They also solicited for similar meetings regularly as they and Managements will put their efforts in working towards Academic activities in each of the College. Meanwhile, the Provost of the Colleges who spoke congratulated the newly inaugurated Governing Council and pledged for total cooperation with NCCE and the Board Members of the colleges.
